Fes Festival of World Sacred Music
Event Highlights
Short description
The Fes Festival of World Sacred Music is a renowned annual spiritual and cultural event held in the imperial city of Fes, Morocco. Established in 1994, its core mission is to promote peace, tolerance, and cross-cultural understanding. Recognized by the UN as a major contributor to the dialogue of civilizations, the festival achieves this by bringing together musicians, dancers, and scholars from diverse faith traditions worldwide, including Sufi, Christian, Jewish, Buddhist, and Hindu groups, to share their unique cultural heritage.
The festival’s main attraction is the spectacular concert series featuring world-class artists performing within stunning, historic venues. The most famous location is the magnificent 14th-century Bab Makina, the grand palace courtyard where the evening galas are held.
Other popular events include the deeply spiritual Sufi Nights (authentic music and dance performed in the Medina’s gardens) and the Fes Forum, a series of academic discussions and debates held during the day on cultural and spiritual topics.
