Fallas of Valencia
Event Highlights
Short description
The Fallas of Valencia is a UNESCO Intangible Cultural Heritage festival that transforms the city into a vast, satirical art exhibition before culminating in a spectacular blaze of fire and gunpowder. The core of the festival consists of monumental, often politically satirical, sculptures made of wood and papier-mâché, also called Fallas or Ninots, which are erected in streets and squares throughout the city. Its most famous attractions are the daily thunderous Mascletà (a synchronized, percussive firecracker display), the solemn and colorful Ofrenda de Flores (Flower Offering to the Virgin), the dazzling Nit del Foc (Night of Fire) fireworks, and the grand finale, La Cremà, where all the artistic monuments are set alight.
