La Tomatina is the world's biggest food fight, an annual Spanish festival held in the small town of Buñol, near Valencia. It is, at its core, a chaotic yet friendly battle where thousands of participants throw over 100 metric tons of overripe tomatoes at each other for exactly one hour, turning the streets into a sea of red pulp.

While the main event is the tomato fight itself, the most famous attraction leading up to the chaos is the Palo Jabón: a slippery, greased pole with a prized Spanish ham attached to the top. The battle officially begins only after someone successfully climbs the pole and knocks the ham down, a spectacle of comical, messy teamwork that builds the energy for the legendary tomato throw. The evening before also features a popular paella-cooking contest and lively street parties.
