Intro
The Jeju Fire Festival is a six-day fire festival held every March on Saebyeol Oreum volcano. It reenacts bangae, the island's old practice of burning cattle-pasture grass to kill pests and renew fields. On the slopes of Saebyeol Oreum, a 519-meter extinct volcano, visitors watch a torch march, fireworks, and the burning of the daljip, a tall straw house burned to carry wishes for a good year.
NOTE: setting the flames on the volcano was banned since 2025 (due to ecological reasons).
I parked "noindex" this event because the main attraction was removed.
