Intro

The Kazanlak Rose Festival is a massive celebration dedicated to the oil-bearing rose, the flower that has made Bulgaria famous worldwide. Held every year in early June, the festival marks the peak of the harvest season when the entire region is covered in blooms, and the air smells like perfume. It is a time when the whole town comes alive with traditional music, colorful folk costumes, and a joyful atmosphere celebrating a century-old heritage.

Event Highlights

The most exciting part is the rose-picking ritual, where you can head out to the fields at sunrise to pick flowers alongside the locals and see how the precious rose oil is made.
The event reaches its peak with a huge street parade featuring dancers, floats, and the crowning of the "Rose Queen." During the trip, you can also taste unique treats like rose jam, rose brandy, or even rose ice cream, making it a fun, sensory experience for everyone.
