Intro
Lewes Bonfire Night is a British tradition that commemorates a failed 1605 Catholic Gunpowder Plot to blow up King James I and Parliament.
Celebrations include lots of fire: torch processions, burning tar barrels, bonfires, fireworks, and burning effigies of Guy Fawkes, the most famous of the Gunpowder plotters.
Lewes Bonfire Night takes place every November 5 in Lewes, East Sussex, and is the largest Bonfire Night celebration in the UK.
