Origin & Significance
The Getodava Festival was initiated by the "Geto-Dacian from Moldova" Cultural Association in 2014 to show people how the Geto-Dacian civilization lived and functioned. The organizers sought to move beyond dry historical facts, wanting to create a setting where ancient life could be observed in action.
The project started as a series of temporary gatherings, but soon it was obvious that these events could not provide the complete, realistic environment needed to properly portray ancient life.
To change this, the association created the Geto-Dava Theme Park in Poiana village in 2021. Inside of it they started the construction of a full-scale Getic hillfort, which became the festival's permanent home. This hillfort functions as a cultural sanctuary where the Geto-Dacian heritage is both celebrated and kept alive.
