TBD1. Sarmisegetusa Regia is the site of the ancient capital of Dacia Kingdom – one of the ancestors of today’s Romanians.
At the height of its power, in the 2nd century BC, Dacia Kingdom was conquered by the Roman empire and transformed into a Roman province. Shortly after, in order to force the obedience of Dacians, the Romans destroyed Sarmisegetusa Regia and build another capital 40km away. It was called Ulpia Traiana Sarmisegetusa and was populated with many people who were forced to leave the old Sarmisegetusa Regia.
